Dragon

Haven't heard of Dragon's Lair?! Originally released in the summer of 1983, Dragon's Lair has solidified itself as a cultural icon in gaming. Dragon’s Lair is a fully animated classic arcade game from legendary animator Don Bluth. In 1989, Sullivan Bluth Interactive Media, Inc. Publishes Dragon's Lair on DOS. Also published on Amiga and Mac, this action game is abandonware and is set in a fantasy, full motion video and timed input. In the mysterious caverns below the castle, your odyssey continues against the awesome forces that oppose your efforts to reach the dragon’s lair. Dragon’s Lair is a fully animated classic arcade game from legendary animator Don Bluth. You’ll make your way through the castle and caverns below and wield your sword against some strange.

After adapting the original Dragon's Lair into two different games, Readysoft continued with the arcade sequel.Dirk the Daring is called back into action when his wife Daphne is kidnapped by the evil wizard Mordroc. Encouraged by Daphne's mother (and her rolling pin), Dirk escapes to Singe's old castle, where he finds a time machine, which will take him to different eras and dimensions on the search for his wife.Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp for home computers adapts parts of stages 1 (escape from Daphne's mother), 2 (prehistoric times), 4 (Garden of Eden), 7 (confrontation with Mordroc) and 8 (final escape) from the arcade game. Gameplay is close to the original - scenes run automatically and the player has to press the right button at the right time (either moving or using Dirk's sword) or die, albeit without the flashing prompts present in the coin-op. All scenes from the original animated film are completely redrawn to fit the limitations of the 16-bit machines.

Looks like the Daphne forums topic was auto deleted after 30(?) days. I'm not that inclined to create a new topic only for it to be auto deleted again. I'm not sure where I'll set the topic up but will work on that soon. In the meantime you can download the latest version of my utility here:. Read the instructions in the readme.txt file before using. If you want to change the output resolution from the current 640x480 then edit the 'dlhdconv.bat' file located in the tools folder.

Change every occurrence of '640x480' to your desired resolution, making sure you keep the 4:3 aspect ratio. Let me know how you get on. Based on your post here: I had hoped to convert my DL bluray for use with Daphne Alas, now that I've read your readme file I know it is unsupported. I share your dislike for the cropped 16:9 bluray by the way, but I have the HD-DVD version and I can tell you for sure that is inferior, quality wise, to the bluray.

Currently, owning most of the DL editions, I can say that the best quality is is the one in the WII one. Alas, there's only one converter for the WII movie format (MOFLEX) and as of now it can play it but not convert it to anything:/. My post at that link doesn't say that the utility supports, or will support, the blu-ray of DLHD, only that I have plans to utimately support the blu-rays for DL 2 and Space Ace. I don't have the Dragon's Lair Wii version, but did do a side by side comparison of the PC HD DVD-ROM version against the blu-ray version and to my eye could see no difference in quality. But then again I have very old eyes.

I dislike the cropping on the blu-ray intensely and so have no intention of spending tthe time to support the DL blu-ray. Personally, I'm happy with the HD DVD-ROM converted footage and have now moved on to converting the audio. Is the Wii version cropped? Hi sorry, I just had.hope.

for the support:) Btw, I do share your concerns about these cropped versions, and that's why I'm actively working to have the video from the WII edition. Quality-wise, it is on par with the bluray edition, but IT IS NOT CROPPED (it is 4/3).

And besides that, that's the ONLY edition to have bluray quality on Space Ace too. Owning ALL the various editions ever published, I can.guarantee. that this edition is, by far (video quality wise of course) the ultimate one. You can see here (but the link will last just 14 days) when it expires, regular images are here.

Hi Yes, the game is that one. About the.quality.: HDDVD. Ikranaka, I think your conversion tool for Dragon's Lair HD to Daphne is awesome.

I've applied this version of DL to my home arcade cabinet and it is my definite go to. For playing the game the way it should be played (and above all in striking HD clarity). However, one sore spot is still how awful the 'slates' at the beginning look. I realize this is not anyone's fault but the actual quality of the original laserdisc. The good news is. The HD version of the DL 'slates' is an extra feature on the official 'Dragon's Lair' Blu-ray.

Unfortunately, they are at a 16:9 ratio and not the ideal 4:3. Just a question, do you know if those will be incorporated in the near future along with the new soundtrack? I'm sure they would have to manipulated / cropped / resized to work. Again, thanks for your conversion tool.
